About ProBono.network

ProBono.network is a resource designed to make the USPTO Patent Pro Bono Program easier for inventors to find, understand, and use.

Connecting inventors with Patent Pro Bono Programs

Finding the right Patent Pro Bono Program can be difficult. Programs operate through regional organizations, law schools, clinics, and volunteer patent professionals, and each program may have its own service area, eligibility requirements, intake process, and capacity.

ProBono.network is intended to make that information easier to find in one place while helping inventors determine whether they may meet common Patent Pro Bono Program requirements.

ProBono.network is not the United States Patent and Trademark Office and does not decide whether an inventor will be accepted by a particular Patent Pro Bono Program. Final eligibility and acceptance are determined by the participating program.

For law schools and Patent Pro Bono clinics

A participating law school or clinic can request a dedicated page on ProBono.network containing information specific to its Patent Pro Bono Program.

The goal is to give each clinic more than a basic directory listing. A dedicated page can explain how the clinic operates, who it serves, where it provides services, how inventors should apply, and what an inventor should expect from the process.

Dedicated Clinic Page

Program description, geographic coverage, contact information, application instructions, eligibility requirements, links, and other information supplied by the clinic.

Custom Intake Forms

A clinic can request a basic intake form or a much more detailed questionnaire designed around the information it needs from prospective inventors.

Eligibility Screening

Screening can help an inventor determine whether they appear to meet common program requirements before contacting or applying to a clinic.

Clinic-Specific Information

Programs can provide their own requirements, procedures, service limitations, technology restrictions, geographic rules, and referral instructions.
